Introduction to Phee...

The first month of the year has already come and gone, can you believe it? Do you feel like you’re already falling behind on your health and fitness goals for 2021? Or maybe, you haven’t even gotten started.

Don’t worry; you’re not alone.

When Julia asked me to write this column, it was divine intervention. The beginning of this year did not start how I wanted it. We lost a family member to Covid, and a few weeks later, my entire household was infected with Covid. Let me tell you that it brings a different appreciation for everything!!! Not being able to move my body and losing my breath after taking a few steps was eye-opening, and I am grateful that I am now on the mend, but it also was a reminder of how important being healthy is.

One thing I have learned throughout the years is that health and fitness is a very personal journey. We can look at what worked for others and think, “Hmmmm, I should do that!” Only to be disappointed that it didn’t work for you like it did for them. I can tell you the secret to success. You ready? You sure? Okay, here it goes…

You must be ready to make the changes and be committed. It’s not about motivation. I am not going to sit here and pretend that if you’re motivated that magically everything will fall into place. No matter if you choose low carb, keto, intermittent fasting, etc. It won’t work without commitment, consistency, and conditioning.

  • Commit – Write out your plan and stick to it

  • Consistency – Work your plan on a regular basis. Consistency will build results and momentum

  • Conditioning – Train your mind to modify your thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs towards getting healthy

As we continue with this column, each month, we will discuss different topics in relation to health and wellness for the mind, body, and soul. I’ve learned the hard way that the journey to healthy is so much more of a mental challenge than a physical one. You are probably wondering, well, who are you and why should I listen to you?

Well, my name is Phoenix C. Brown. I am a mother of two, a wife, and a litigation analyst for a tech company. I am an author of numerous books available on amazon. I am launching a new t-shirt line (Soulistic Clothing), and I am also a Beachbody coach. I understand more than anyone how a hectic schedule can wear you out and how you can feel you don’t have time for anything else. This is why I am thankful Julia granted me this opportunity. I will use this column to show you how to make your journey easier by using tips and advice I’ve come across on my journey. So here is a quick breakdown of me…

  • Passionate about family, faith, and fitness

  • Honoring my body by taking care of it

  • Embracing my journey

  • Empowering and Inspiring Others as I learn

So please call me Phee! It’s a pleasure to meet you!

THIS COLUMN IS SPONSORED BY SOLISTIC CLOTHING

soulistic. Pertaining to the soul; the part involving the mind, will and emotions.

Soulistic Clothing was designed to pay homage to the matriarch's of our family who have passed on. While they are no longer here on earth they left a legacy of character and faith that we wanted to share with the world.

The Ollie Rose Collection is scripture based designs inspired by our grandmother's prayers and faith. We wanted to continue their legacy by creating designs that showcase some of their favorite scriptures.

The Marilyn Ann Collection was inspired by our mothers and their ability to help us change our mindsets. The designs and sayings are self empowering and serve as reminders of how to remain focused in a chaotic world.

We want those who rep Soulistic Clothing to know that it's more than just a clothing line, its a mindset.
