2022 DETROIT HUSTLE AND GRIND URBAN LITERARY CONVENTION

"December of 2017, the idea to take my events to the level was presented. After plotting a theme and title, the Hustle & Grind Book Fair was created. Unsure of the response to such a big event, I posted it on social media. I can honestly say, that after years of being in the industry, I was stunned. Authors and readers not only showed up for the first Hustle & Grind; they showed out." ~ Ms. Michel Moore

The 4th annual convention was held on June 11th with the same energy and vibe as the first. Ms. Michel Moore, TC Littles, and the Hood Book Ambassadors

Served Ate and left NO CRUMBS.

The event features New York Times, USA Today, Amazon, and Essence Magazine Bestsellers from all over the world. There is a casual mix and mingle the night before, and an exclusive after-party proceeding the main event. Intellectual Ink recommends you add this to your yearly literary calendar!

2022 Detroit’s Hustle and Grind has become the annual event that both readers and authors must attend! It is reminiscent of the old Harlem Book Fair with the hustle hard and grind even harder mentality! Starting with the networking mixer on Friday night, many first-time attendees mingled with both readers and authors who are regulars from the very first Hustle and Grind! It was a great opportunity to match a name with a face.

It’s nothing to find the old Legends mixing it up with the authors on the rise while the newbies soak up as much knowledge as they possibly could!

This year, you had the option of being outside or going inside! Both areas were set up beautifully, but many of the old hustlers from the early Harlem book fair days opted to keep their hustle outside. Whether you were outside or inside, there was definitely money to be made.

There was not one bad location at the event. The authors actually determined their placement by deciding whether they wanted to be outside or inside! It was a win-win situation for most especially those who marketed themselves (which is key) to let folks know they were going to be doing the event. Targeting your reader base along with the random foot traffic that enters the book fair is what many events are lacking.

It’s safe to mark the 2022 Hustle and Grind as another big success! I have attended every one of them and every year Ms. Michelle Moore, the originator for those not aware, has changed it up and added something new. I cannot wait to see what the 2023 Hustle and Grind has in store for us. We know one thing to be true, this event is a definite money maker!!

Save the date for next year's event, June 10, 2023, and mark your calendars now! Hope to see you there! ~ Faye

“Hustle & Grind gives me throwback Harlem Book Fair vibes. All the big dogs in one yard. I’ve been attending since the beginning and the turnout is always huge. “Michelle Moore and The HBA ambassadors always throw first-class events. They have a way of knowing what you need before you ask for it. A-1 treatment.” K'WAN
