When did you first consider yourself a writer?
The moment that my writing opened the way to learn dark family secrets that my mother had hoped to carry to her grave. I placed the story behind being adopted by my biological into my book Open Door Marriage. Suffice it to say the physical abuse was exponential, compounded by my father not respecting my right to say no. My uncle did not respect my right to say no as well. So, I was damaged at an early age, and writing was my path to healing. I put my pain on the page, and the page became my passion. Now that passion is my purpose.
Tell us about your artistic process. How do you get from idea to finished project?
My characters talk to me. The dialogue comes first, and then I’ll cycle back to add narrative, settings, description, and back story.
