Kickin' It With KeKe

Podcasts hosts are in the spotlight all month long on Intellectual Ink, and today we're Kickin' It With KeKe!

INK MAG: You’ve written and independently published over ten books. Can you tell us about your writing journey?

KEKE: First, thank you for having me. It is an honor and a pleasure. My writing journey has been a crazy ride, and I am loving every moment of it. When I published my first book ‘Deadly In Stilettos’ in 2012, I went through a 3rd party publishing outlet that screwed me over big time. I could have allowed that to break my spirit and quit on my dream of being an author, but I used that as fuel to study and learn my craft, and the industry so that it didn’t happen to me again. Now I help others along the way. I now have 15 published books with 5 clients who are also published authors. I love how much I’ve grown as an author. It reflects in all my work. My supporters tell me this all the time, and I take pride in producing better quality of work with every new project I create.

INK MAG: Which novel was hardest to write and why?

KEKE: The novel that was hardest to write for me hasn’t been released yet. It’s a memoir, focusing on my journey to self-love. I share parts of myself that no one knows. It was very emotional and healing for me, but I’m glad I wrote it. The release date has yet to be determined, though. lol Hopefully, it’ll debut sometime this year. *fingers crossed*

INK MAG: How can readers find your work?

KEKE: I’m on Amazon and other online book retailers. I also have a lifestyle blog on wordpress.com It’s called Kickin’ It With KeKe. www.kickinitwithkeke.wordpress.com.

INK MAG: You founded P.U.S.H. Life Coaching LLC at the beginning of the pandemic, can you tell us the company mission and goals?

KEKE: My mission for PUSH is helping others unpack mental baggage –Unpacking mental baggage—to create and maintain a healthier and happier lifestyle through positive personal growth and mindset. As a life coach, my goal is to help each person I work with to live their best life as their best self. I’m the little push they need to move forward when they feel stuck.

INK MAG: Tell us what inspired you to launch The Kickin’ It With KeKe Live show, is the podcast by the same name and extension of the show, or an entirely different entity?

KEKE: I started Kickin’ It With KeKe (the blog) in 2017, and when we lost our 19-year-old daughter in a fatal car accident in 2020, I needed something to help me get through some of that heaviest. She was the light that gave those who came in contact with her the boost and belief that they could do anything. Launching the Live Show on Instagram was me channeling her energy, pushing myself to step out of my comfort zone. My mentality is now, “Why put off what you can do today until tomorrow when it’s not promised.” I honor my daughter’s memory by showing up every Monday night. I keep her picture next to me during the show in case I need to feel her energy because although I’m in Season 4 of the show, I still get nervous.

The podcast is an extension of the blog and the live show yet with deeper content. The subtitle is called: Life, Love, & All THAT OTHER SH&T. My podcast mission is Unapologetic conversations centered on self-development, life experiences, and spirituality. It is my hope that whoever tunes in to the podcast leaves with something that resonates within them to become a better person—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

INK MAG: How does one become a guest on your show, and where can listeners find it?

KEKE: Those who would like to become a guest on my live show and/or podcast can send an email to Kekechanel2012@gmail.com telling me about what they do, and how they plan to use my platform to empower others. Listeners can find my podcast on all podcast platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, SoundCloud, etc. My live show airs every Monday at 8 pm CST on my Instagram page @thekekechanel.
