Opinion: WTF Roe V. Wade

By Erick S. Gray

Roe V. Wade is no more this summer. Deep sigh! Abortion has been a touchy subject for years. And for fifty years, it has been legal to have one despite how you feel about it—whether you are pro-choice or pro-life. The fact remains, it’s always had been a woman’s choice—it being their constitutional right. Am I pro-choice or pro-life? Although I may not always agree with a woman getting an abortion, I remain pro-choice. It’s their right and decision, and that decision is between them and God. But what is it about these old white men and the need to control a woman’s choice or rights?

Abortion rights have been a controversial issue forever. But America and the government have always been controversial, and I’ve talked about that in my previous columns. However, a few things disturb me about the sudden reversal of abortion rights. First, the GOP, these pro-life supporters, evangelists, and others are hell-bent on calling abortion murder a sin and immoral. Protecting the fetus has become more critical in this country than saving Black lives. Yup! It’s sad. If you’re pro-life, then pro-life should be applied to both the unborn and the living. Don’t become a hypocrite—too late...

HOW TO GET INVOLVED...

Forty-nine years of the constitutional right to an abortion in this country was overturned. But they cannot control us. Our bodies are our own.

Reproductive Justice (RJ) means the human right to control our sexuality, our gender, our work, and our reproduction. That right can only be achieved when all women and girls have the complete economic, social, and political power and resources to make healthy decisions about our bodies, our families, and our communities in all areas of our lives.

Banning abortion is not business as usual. Join the national walkout on Wednesday, July 13, to show your support for abortion rights!
