Censorship and book banning are often seen as forms of control and suppression and can limit the free exchange of ideas and freedom of speech. Here is a limited list of some banned books by African American authors: (the list has significantly grown and will be updated monthly)

It's worth noting that books by African American authors and authors from other marginalized communities have frequently been banned and challenged due to their content and themes, including issues of race, sexuality, and oppression.
